REDD-net is a partnership between ODI - the Overseas Development Institute, CATIE - the CentroAgronómico Tropical de Investigación y Enseñanza, RECOFTC – The Center for People and Forests, and UCSD - the Uganda Coalition for Sustainable Development. The REDD-net programme is coordinated by ODI at the international level, by UCSD in Africa, by CATIE in Latin America and by RECOFTC in Asia.
The programme is funded by the Norway Agency for International Development (NORAD)and the World Bank.

Overseas Development Institute
ODI is the UK’s leading independent think-tank on international development and humanitarian issues and is at the leading edge of new thinking internationally, shaping a discourse around global social justice and global well-being. ODI has 25 years experience of forest policy and community forestry and a strong commitment to demand-led policy development. It has a solid track record in establishing and leading the formation of multilingual practitioner networks in innovative areas of development policy through the Rural Development Forestry Network, the Agricultural Research and Extension Network and the Humanitarian Policy Network. ODI’s wide knowledge in fields such as forest governance, vulnerability, poverty dynamics, and support to evidence-based research and advocacy among southern NGOs, provides the basis to interpret international policy developments for southern stakeholders.

RECOFTC
RECOFTC, established in 1987, is the only international not-for-profit organization that specializes in capacity building for community forestry and devolved forest management. With an international board and diverse funding RECOFTC engages in strategic networks and effective partnerships with governments, non-governmental organizations, civil society, the private sector, local people, and research and educational institutes throughout the Asia-Pacific region and beyond. RECOFTC is able to draw on over 20 years’ experiences of community forestry in Asia in the development of local governance, benefit sharing and skills development packages to strengthen voluntary REDD projects and national REDD strategies. Under RECOFTC's 2008 - 2013 Strategic Plan, ‘Forest and Climate Change’ is one of three main topic areas, in recognition of the crucial role this topic is likely to play in shaping rural livelihoods and forest management over the coming years.

CATIE
Centro Agronómico Tropical de Investigación y Enseñanza (CATIE) is a regional nonprofit center created in 1973 and based in Costa Rica. It is internationally recognised for its leading role in research, higher education, training and technical assistance in agriculture and natural resource management. Its profile of activities covers nearly all of Latin America and the Caribbean, working in association with local, national and international institutions. CATIE also participates in global projects with many partner institutions, with activities in America, Europe, Africa and Asia and is prominent in international climate change research, in the areas of both mitigation and adaptation. The centre is particularly well-known for the nested approach to REDD policy development, which has been taken up by a number of organizations and countries (Chile, and the grouping: Paraguay / Argentina / Honduras / Mexico / Panama / Peru).

UCSD
UCSD was founded in 2001, and works on a variety of environmental projects and policy issues both in Uganda and elsewhere in the Africa region. It co-hosted the International Network Secretariat of the Global Sustainability Watch Project that among others elaborated a Sustainability Watch 2006 Report: Implementation Barriers to Sustainable Development - A Civil Society Assessment in 15 countries in Asia, Africa and Latin America aimed at influencing and enhancing implementation of pro-poor development as outlined in the Johannesburg Plan of Implementation and the MDGs (focusing on Goals 1, 7, 8). Supported by donors such as the Swedish International Development and MS Uganda, UCSD acts as the regional lead agency for the East African Civil Society Watchdog Project for Sustainable Development in the Lake Victoria Basin (Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda). It is presently involved in a number of research, advocacy and networking activities on the implications of climate change for poverty reduction, improved sanitation and other development processes.
