There is a lot of interest in the role of REDD+ within Eastern Africa and how the region could increasingly become involved in REDD+ mitigation schemes. Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania are starting to pilot REDD+ projects and currently in the process of developing national REDD+ plans.
REDD-net in East Africa has so far focused on understanding what REDD+ could look like in the region in terms of the types of policies that could be implemented and their implications. Insights on issues such as benefit sharing and carbon rights have been contributed to publisize regional bulletins by practitioners involved in developing REDD+ projects, and workshops have been held to share experience between projects.
