Participation and benefit sharing in national REDD schemes: early observations from five countries
This thematic feature summarises some initial observations from a series of REDD-net articles about national REDD+ processes and how these issues are being considered in five countries: Costa Rica, Nepal, Tanzania, Uganda and Vietnam. It shows that attention is being given to establishing effective systems for participation and benefit sharing, and enhancing coordination. However, outstanding technical, policy and implementation barriers need to be overcome in order for REDD+ to benefit smaller producers and poor people. The finance offered by REDD+ may be an opportunity to overcome some of these barriers.
